VIE Consultants' personnel have developed and taught training courses for more than 20 years, beginning in 1985, with the collaborative development of one of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's first courses in earthquake hazard assessment and mitigation: "Earthquake Hazard Mitigation for Utility Lifeline Systems."
VIE Consultants' personnel have personally conducted training courses throughout the United States for earthquake hazard mitigation, as well as emergency response training using the IEMC Earthquake module from FEMA. In this regard, VIE personnel have also served to conduct "train the trainer" courses. Applying these teaching techniques and updating the knowledge basis for training, VIE's personnel have enabled facility owners and managers to save lives, while also avoiding many millions of dollars in losses, as well as undue facility interruption following natural disasters.
Training services offered by VIE include:
One example of a course which VIE personnel have recently developed and taught included: Courses developed and taught at the Metropolitan Water District of Salt Lake and Sandy concerning methods to design earthquake resistant new water treatment facilities and retrofit existing facilities.
